So, it has come to this

Rev. Jeremiah Wright, former pastor of Senator Barrack Obama, has been in the news again this week, but not for old remarks, but recent.

Many have attempted to extend grace towards both Rev. Wright and Obama in light of divisive remarks made after 9-11, but his recent remarks seems to indicated that not only Rev. Wright is not repentant for his remarks, but in fact has added more fodder to the debate during his recent media rounds and speaking tour. Listening to Rev. Wright's remarks, one might wonder if he has been attempting to cause harm to Obama's remarks.



Wright's recent remarks have forced Senator Obama to denounce Rev. Wright. It is very sad that any church member would be forced to publicly denounce his pastor, but it seemed necessary in this case. It is unfortunate that instead of contributing to a real discussion on race in our country, Rev. Wright has instead, deepened the wedge of racial divisiveness through his inflammatory remarks.

I have stated many times before, that I completely disagree with Obama's platform. He is as near to a Marxist as we have seen in a long time from the Democratic Party. However, no one can marginalize his accomplishment of becoming the first viable black candidate for president. I am thankful that we finally have a strong black candidate running for president; it is long overdue in our country.

With Obama's strong denouncement, let us hope that we can put this peripheral issue behind us and focus on the issues. Republicans really need not focus on the Rev. Wright remarks in order to discredit Senator Obama; his leftist platform is enough on its own to defeat him.
