Your camera is fancier than mine - one of the disadvantages of having a cheaper digital camera, though it is plenty expensive for me...

We have one setting that is for night shots, and makes the shutter a little slower, but I think it isn't really all that slow.

I also might try the setting that takes 4 pictures right in a row.

As I understand it (which is at the novice level), you have 2 options. First, you can set your camera to the longest exposure possible and pray for a strike to occur during that period. Secondly you can set the shutter to bulb and release the shutter at the moment of strike - if you have quick enough reflexes. I believe it also helps to set ISO at 100-2000 and the aperture around 8 - but those settings seem to vary a bit based on distance of the storm and ambient light. It is also recommended to use a tripod and remote shutter release (cable). I don't have the latter yet, but can see the advantages.

Do you have time delay, or do you just take lots of pictures until you get one, or do you just have a quick finger?

Jonathan and I watched the lightning last night and we wondered about taking some pictures, but I wasn't sure if it would work, so didn't go upstairs to get the camera.
