Quick Trip

Jenn July 29th, 2008

I made a quick trip to Cleveland this weekend. We had a great time. Chuck and I caught an awesome sunset at the lake while poor Bethany endured the “screaming Mimies” during bath time. We also had a chance to celebrate William’s birthday early.

Introducing Microsoft’s New OS: Mojave

Jenn July 25th, 2008

Microsoft looks to ‘Mojave’ to revive Vista’s image | Beyond Binary - A blog by Ina Fried - CNET News.com

I have been using Windows Vista for a year and a half with absolutely no problems.  This experiment by Microsoft does a great job of exposing how the problem with Vista is based in perception and not really reality.  Vista’s biggest critics are people who have never installed the OS and used it for themselves.

Faith to Pray

Jesus Heals a Blind Beggar (Luke 18)

35 As he drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” 38 And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” 42 And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” 43 And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

I listened to a very good message on the faith and prayer delivered by Aron Osborne at the SGM church in Cleveland, Ohio.  It was great to hear a sermon that balanced the tension between the “name it, claim it” health & prosperity gospels and the biblical call to faith.  Since I have had several conversations over the past few weeks about this subject, the timing was great.

Great article on why Romney is not the guy for McCain.  Finally, a pundit gets it!

Hello, Dolly!

Jenn July 22nd, 2008

\"Hello, Dolly!\"

The tropics are hopping!  Tropical Storm Cristobal is making its way to the graveyard of the Atlantic while Tropical Storm Dolly is expected to strengthen to hurricane strength over the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, likely making landfall in the Brownsville, TX area as a Category 2 hurricane Wednesday morning.  An impressive tropical wave has formed off the east coast of Africa which meteorologists will be watching closely.

Look for gas prices to swell until Dolly dissolves into the Texas hill country as everyone eyes the impact of Dolly on oil platforms in the gulf.

It was the “big 4-0″ for Rochelle and we celebrated in traditional Providence fashion with a surprise party.

Notice how Rochelle and her mom have the same expression in this photo.

Taking Pictures

Jenn July 18th, 2008

I have been practicing taking pictures.  Monday was a discouraging night at the car show because the sun was so bright I had difficulty seeing what was in focus/not in focus.  I should have just used autofoocus.  I was pleasantly surprised to have a good one of Baby Jack appear among the duds, though.
