Election Day Weather Forcast

Jenn October 31st, 2008

Since Gov. Rendell seemed to be almost predicting gloom and doom on Election Day, I decided to post the Accuweather map for Election Day.  Grammy Grover always had a saying about what weather benefited which party, but I forget what it was,.  No doubt it was complimentary of the Democrats.

Gov. Rendell Warns PA Race Closer Than Polls Show

Rendell says race is closer than polls indicate | Wilkes-Barre News | The Times Leader

I am not sure if Gov. Rendell is a worrier, talks too much, or just likes to stir up controversy, but he has again made the news by urging people to vote.  The Democratic Pennsylvania governor urged people to bring an umbrella and dress warmly to withstand the lines on Election Day.  I am not sure where he gets his weather report from, but Accuweather is calling for sunny weather and temperatures in the mid sixties on Tuesday.

“Da Coach” Teams up with Sarah Plain in Latrobe, PA

Washington Wire - WSJ.com : Mike Ditka Hits the Campaign Trail With Palin

AP Photo

Nobody expected Mike Ditka to mince words when he introduced Gov. Palin this morning in Latrobe, PA.  Here are some of the Western Pennsylvanian’s classic lines:

This is the land of opportunity. It’s not a land of handouts. If you’re willing to work, you can find a job…

Don’t talk about what you’re gonna do, prove you can do something…If we’re smart, the only option we have is to elect John McCain and Sarah Palin.

The video is available on KDKA’s website, uncut.  Plain delivered a fiery speech to a crowd that dusted the sleep from their eyes and were wound up to hear her.

KDKA’s Ralph Iannotti landed an interview with Gov. Palin which can also be seen on KDKa’s website.  Iannotti seemed to play within his league and kept the interview friendly, giving the Governor a chance to share her message with Western Pennsylvanians one last time before they head for the polls on Tuesday.

Senator Government Calls Opposition Selfish

Political Punch

“The reason that we want to do this, change our tax code, is not because I have anything against the rich,” Obama said in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday. “I love rich people! I want all of you to be rich. Go for it. That’s the America dream, that’s the American way, that’s terrific.
“The point is, though, that — and it’s not just charity, it’s not just that I want to help the middle class and working people who are trying to get in the middle class — it’s that when we actually make sure that everybody’s got a shot – when young people can all go to college, when everybody’s got decent health care, when everybody’s got a little more money at the end of the month – then guess what? Everybody starts spending that money, they decide maybe I can afford a new car, maybe I can afford a computer for my child. They can buy the products and services that businesses are selling and everybody is better off. All boats rise. That’s what happened in the 1990s, that’s what we need to restore. And that’s what I’m gonna do as president of the United States of America.
“John McCain and Sarah Palin they call this socialistic,” Obama continued. “You know I don’t know when, when they decided they wanted to make a virtue out of selfishness.”

They will try to paint Conservatives as unfair, unfeeling, hateful people who are trying to deny the poor their “just do”.  If this is is unfair, the only missing argument is that the wealthy all obtained their wealth unjustly, they don’t deserve it and Senator Government has the judgment to determine who and who does not deserve wealth.

Excellent Op Ed by David Harsanyi discussing how Obama’s ideas are Socialist and how the slippery slope of “fairness” is found in the eye of the beholder.

An Explanation of How McCain Can Bag PA

RealClearPolitics - HorseRaceBlog - Return To Pennsylvania

This is a decent analysis of how John McCain scores PA.  I am much more optimistic that John McCain can score PA than Jay Costa, but it is still a pretty good analysis.  Maybe it’s because the Democrats that I know are telling me with hushed voices that they can’t bring themselves to vote for Obama.
