Greeting the Governor
Jenn October 11th, 2008
I raced downtown after work to greet the Governor as she rolled into Pittsburgh via the Straight Talk Express for a Fundraiser at the Westin Convention Center. I knew that I would probably not see Gov. Palin and that I would probably be outnumber completely by Obama supporters. Regardless, I donned my McCain shirt and grabbed my camera. I walked right up to where the press was standing and remained there the entire time. They thought I was either with the press or McCain campaign. This allowed me to remain across the street from the Obama protesters and also get a clear shot of the Straight Talk Express as it rolled into town.
The crowd was odd. Their signs were ridiculous and their chants uninventive at best. I snapped this picture away from the crows on Penn Ave. after the Governor disembarked. A moment later, I took his picture with his camera phone for him.
The Obama supporters tried to be angry, but they are really Pittsburghers for the most part.
