Next’s Week’s Storm Won’t Be Our Last

A couple of quick weather notes. First, next week's storm seems to mark a change in pattern in which we can expect a few more big storms. Accuweather says:

The storm that could bring a major snowfall to parts of the East next week is part of the major weather change going on across the country. AccuWeather.com Expert Meteorologist Joe Bastardi says the pattern across the eastern part of the country will yield several major snowstorms that could bring snowfall for the year above normal in many areas, including the major cities along the I-95 corridor.

I think a trend shift has occurred since Christmas.  In Pittsburgh we are regularly accumulating more than the forecasted amount.  Today we were supposed to get an inch or two of snow and we already have more than two inches and it is still snowing hard.

Second, next week's storm track has now shifted East in the models, meaning that the folks East of the Appalachians now stand a better shot at significant snow.  I am not sold on the Eastward track.  It is typical for the models to do a little shuffling and not really hone in on a track until about 2 days before the storm.  Either way, Pittsburgh should still see significant snow fall from the storm and an Eastward track gives our friends in Boophadelphia more snow.
