Roll Out the Barrel….of Pork



Here are some highlights of the way Congress wants to spend your tax dollars:

  • $600 million for the federal government to buy new cars, on top of $3 billion spent each year

  • $7 billion for modernizing federal buildings

  • $1.5 million for a water park in Miami

  • $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts

  • $150 million for the Smithsonian

  • $1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn't turned a profit in 40 years

  • $2 billion for child-care subsidies

  • $50 million the National Endowment for the Arts

  • $400 million for global-warming research

  • $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects

  • $650 million in addition to the billions already spent on digital TV conversion coupons.
