Pennsylvania GOP Senator Arlen Specter seems to be taking on the old adage, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." Specter, already held in low esteem by many Conservatives in PA upped the rancor when he, as one of three Republican Senators, voted for the "Stimulus" bill. Now, in real trouble with both Republican and Democratic constituents because of his vote, has been quietly asking Pennsylvania lawmakers to change the primary rules for 2010, implementing an open primary, which allows all registered voted to chose which party's primary they wish to vote in.
The maneuver seems to be a page out of Rush Limbaugh's famed "Operation Chaos", which many believe kept Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the presidential race in 2008 longer than her legitimate support garnered.
Many Pennsylvania residents were frustrated when they tried to reach the Senator's offices in the days leading up to the "Stimulus" vote, greeted by constant busy signals. It has been reported that the Senator's staff took the phones off of the hook.
