That’s a Lot of Snow!! (and Ice)

Jan 12

I took a trip up to Edinboro to visit my college friends Jen & Andy last Saturday and to catch a glimpse of their huge snowfall. Some parts of the area received over 52" of snow from one storm last week. After the snow fell, they had a minor ice storm that created some amazing scenery.

We also took a trip over to Presque Isle to take a look at the ice dunes that formed on Lake Erie.

Looking Forward

Oct 09

I am looking forward to seeing Steve Murphy again:
51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ

Congratulations to the Bethel Park Black Hawks on advancing to the PIAA AAAA state championship game.  Bethel Park defeated West Lawn Wilson in triple overtime in temperatures well below freezing.  Bethel Park had no turnovers and capitalized on West Lawn Wilson's three turnovers and thirteen penalties.

The Black Hawks will play Bethlehem next Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium.  The game will be broadcast live on PCN (cable TV) and more than likely area radio stations.  Three of the four WPIAL champions have made it to the state finals this year.

Fans, players, band members, and cheerleaders endured a hairy ride through the snow covered mountains of the Laurel Highlands on their way home to Pittsburgh.

  • Politics through the eyes of a four year old:  all old men look like Sen.McCain and all black men look like Sen. Obama.  Does that mean all moms with 5+ kids look like Sarah Palin?

  • Snow is on the way, again and the Steelers are on a roll - I love December.

  • Enjoyed a great River City Brass Band Christmas concert with an exceptionally enthusiastic crowd.  Former Allegheny County Executive, Jim Roddy (r), narrated, "The Night Before Christmas".
