A watchtower designed by Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter to replicate Pueblo architecture offering views to the east and the Colorado River is the first viewpoint visitors travelling from AZ 64 see as they enter the Grand Canyon from the South Rim.
Colter personally oversaw every detail of the structure and was careful that the structure blended in with the canyon.

I am going to try this again at some point using a tripod, my arms got pretty tired with the bracket attached.
The city left the lights on @ Heinz Field this year. The lights coupled with low, reflective clouds made shooting the fireworks a less than happy experience. I tried using a longer lens to cancel out the glare from the lights as much as possible, but these are less than stellar.
Vanderbilt Mansion, Hyde Park, NY
- This was considered their small cottage in the woods. FDR, who's home was just down the road, arranged for this to be purchased during the Depression for $1 and it is now part of the National Park Services.
More of the Same
It was more of the same old liberal tax and spend Democratic rhetoric last night as Barack Obama and Joe Biden stumped in Beaver County, PA last night.
Most of the time my camera was over my head and the exposures were long because it was dark out and the crowd had a tall guy ahead of me, so there is some camera shake. All in all, I am pretty please that I was able to get a handful of decent shots.
I couldn't figure out how to get a decent shot with my kit lens (18-55mm) so I resorted to my teleconvertor lens on my video camerea until I get a bigger lens.
To the best of my knowledge, these were shot in 1997...but back then you took everything on a roll of film, so they could span more than one year quite easily.
Early in Providence's history, the trend was to throw chuck a suprise birthday party (Nov. 21) This particular year, Everyone chipped in and bought Chuck a fancy Monopoly game, MOnopoly being another early church past-time. The Prater girls wrapped it in several boxes, which Chuck found particulalry amusing.
