💡 Pro Tip

Do your first shakedown trip close to home — ideally within an hour. That way, if you forget something or run into a problem, it’s an easy fix, not a stressful situation 200 miles from home.

Chapter 3

Towing & Your Vehicle

Is your vehicle up to the task? From tow ratings and brake controllers to mirrors and hitching, here’s what you need to know to tow safely and confidently.

💡 Pro Tip

If you’re buying a new tow vehicle, try to get the factory tow package. Vehicles with the factory package often have a better towing experience — it might include a brake controller, hitch receiver, tow mirrors, and electronics tuned for towing.

CHAPTER 4

Power & Battery

Understanding your electrical system is the key to stress-free camping. These resources break down battery management, solar, and power monitoring into plain English.

Solar

Solar & Victron

Solar doesn’t keep your equipment powered — your battery does. Solar recharges your battery. Understanding how your solar system works, how to monitor it, and how to get the most from it is the key to confident off-grid camping.

💡 Pro Tip

Your TAB’s solar panel recharges the battery — it doesn’t directly power your appliances. An MPPT controller like the Victron is more efficient than a PWM, especially on cloudy days. Use the VictronConnect app to monitor State of Charge and solar yield right from your phone, so you always know where you stand. And remember: get a season under your belt before investing in a bigger solar setup — your actual camping style will tell you exactly what you need.

Chapter 6

Maintenance & Care

Your TAB is a rolling earthquake — things jiggle, bounce, and sometimes hop out of place. Regular maintenance keeps your trailer safe, sound, and looking great.

Chapter 7

Safety

Your TAB is your home on the road — and just like home, a little preparation goes a long way. From propane and fire safety to weather awareness and roadside readiness, these resources help you travel smart and stay safe.

💡 PRO TIP

Check your smoke detector, CO detector, and fire extinguisher before every trip. Keep a flashlight and first aid kit accessible — not buried under gear.
