Thigh-high Snow

The snow drifts are thigh-high, the wind bearing down like blanket, and bitter cold temperatures waging war against every part of exposed skin….somewhere in Glacier National Park, but not in the nice commercial campground in West Glacier where we are camping. We have no snow, no wind, and above freezing temps. We do expect all of those things to change, but situated below 4,000’, we will not experience the same storm that the East Side is experiencing and feel that we are quite safe in our location. Flights are still arriving and departing from Glacier International Airport in Kalispell and my brother and his wife will join the rest us, after spending a hot day in NYC, yesterday, in their winter garb for Glacier, killing time after their flight was cancelled due to the weather in the Midwest.

Camping in West Glacier

Lake McDonald, just 10 minutes away, saw brutal winds, yesterday. Lake many large lakes, the lake acts like a plain, with nothing to interrupt and gales flowing down from the mountains.
